Backbone 14  Homesmart  7
Backbone:   Backbone Chiropractic snapped a 2 game losing streak by besting Homesmart 14-7 today.  BackBone was led by Tim Schiewe 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles and 3 RBI; Frank Sandomenico 2 for 2 with 2 sac flies and 3 RBI as well as a game-ending circus catch; and Richard Szymesko with a hit, walk and 3 RBI while playing a solid 1st game at shortstop.  Tom Gruzs 2 for 4, Dennis Vance with a hit, winning pitcher Randy Biko 4 for 4, and Patrick Hansen 3 for 3 each plated a run.  Ken Krzeminski went 3 for 4 and scored twice.  Greg Martin was 2 for 3 with a walk.  Jim Opyd hit the ball well but was the victim of strong defensive plays;  however, he returned the favor with several fine catches of his own.  Special thanks to Sean Baker 2 for 4 with a RBI for filling in for Chip Stanczak today!
Homesmart:   Another beautiful day unfortunately another loss for the Homesmart Ezell realtors.  The bats were cool today just producing 14 hits and 7 runs.  Our opponents did much better scoring 14 runs.  Our defense had a few holes but the guys never gave up.  Offensively  John Hammel was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and Dick Hansen had another good day at the plate going 2 for 3.  We played a very good team and our congratulations to Backbone for a good win.
Susy's Home Cleaning 20   Kraker Biszantz 19
Susy's:  Another beautiful Arizona morning with Susy’s Home Cleaning and Kraker Biszantz Realty meeting at the Field of Dreams for a softball contest. The realtors got off to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning and holding the cleaners scoreless. The second inning saw Susy’s scoring one run against none for the Kraker Biszantz team. The realtors scored three runs in the third and the cleaners answered with four making it  5-5 contest. The realtors exploded for five runs in the fourth and blanked the cleaners. In the fifth the realtors scored three more runs but the cleaners answered with five. Both teams scored the maximum of five in the sixth. Susy’s allowed one additional run to the Kraker Biszantz team in the top of the seventh and found themselves down by four runs going into the home half of the inning. Susy’s gritted their teeth and hit the ball well enough to score five runs and secure a 20-19 come-from-behind victory
The Susy’s Home Cleaning crew played a good defensive game against a strong hitting Kraker Biszantz team. While everyone on the team played well Brad Johnson at shortstop had an exceptional game defensively. As a team we had 33 hits, a season high. Everyone had at least two hits and Jim Courtney led the team with five hits. RBIs were pretty even across the board as a testament to good team hitting and good base running. Jeff Smith did an excellent job coaching third base again this game.
Congratulations to the coaches and players on the Kraker Biszantz Realty team for a well played game. Thanks to the umpiring crew and scoreboard operator. Thanks to Jeff Smith and Curt Rhoades (IR) for coaching the bases. Special thanks to our subs Kevin Katsuki and Dave Swanson who both contributed to the win. Thanks to Cathy for keeping the scorebook.
Kraker Bisantz:  Kraker Biszantz came up one run short on a beautiful day at the field of dreams, losing in the bottom of the 7th to a pesky Larry Radant Susy’s team that refused to go away.  Hats off to them for a great comeback.  We hit the ball hard, with 34 total hits led by David Power 4/4, Gary Armstrong 4/4 with a double and a triple, and Tim Brown 4/4 with 5 rbi’s.  Pitcher Dennis Karcher was 3/4 with a double, Jay Corbett was 3/4, and sub Mitch Craun was also 3/4.  Brian Pin was 3/5 with two doubles and an excellent unassisted double play at first base.  Subs Randy Van Wagner, Kim MacQueen, and RayRay Gibson were all 2/4.  Allen Bellew was 2/5 while battling the sun in left field.  This was an exciting game that was close and what recreational softball should be, a lot of fun and no one got hurt!  Thanks to our subs Mitch, Randy, Kim, and RayRay as well as umpires Richard Szymesko and Kenny K.
TP Dentist 8   Dynamic Wealth  3
TP Dentist:  In a defensive battle, our Pham team notched an 8-3 win over a tough Dynamic Wealth team to run our record to 5-2-1. It was a 5 run fifth inning that was the difference as we broke a 3-3 tie and held them scoreless the rest of the day. Bud(3-3) led off the fifth inning with a has third hit, and after Todd(2-3), Dean(3-3), Ron(3-3), Ray(2-3), and Patrick(2-3) singled, we had a nice 8-3 lead which held up fine behind great pitching by Tom Gibans(2-3) and strong defense. Dean showed the way, defensively, with a nice catch at the warning track in the first inning and Wayne capped it off with a good catch or two late. Our rookie, Jeff Tucker played a strong 2B in his first game as long term sub. Ray Ray had a lot of action at rover and contributed nicely to the defense. On offense, Ray, Dean, and Todd each had a double. Leading in RBI's were Ron Michalski and Patrick Burnett with 3 and Dean with a pair. Thanks to our subs who all did well- Greg Carley, Richard Szymesko, and Patrick Burnett.
Dynamic:  Dynamic Wealth was up 2 to 1 after the first inning, and held that lead until the dentists plated 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th, taking a 3 -2 lead over the money managers. The money managers pushed a run across in the top of the fifth to tie the game, but that was all she wrote. Thomas Pham Dentistry scored the maximum 5 runs in the home half of the fifth to take a 8 - 3 lead. It was a lead that they would keep. As the Dynamic Wealth squad was inept at the plate, laying goose eggs in the 6th and 7th innings. We had only 15 hits, and none for extra bases. Becky Holliday pitched a nice game, holding the dentists to only 8 runs, but the money managers let down their pitcher again, showing little offensive effectiveness.
Dynamic Wealth was led offensively by Jon Chlebeck, going 3 for 3 with an RBI. Mark Beckner was 3 for 4 with a run scored. Jeff Heary was 2 for 3 with a run knocked in. And Kevein Katsuki was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and a run driven in. Thanks to Kim MacQueen for subbing for us!

  Homesmart 15  Susy's 13
Homesmart:  A large crowd showed up today to watch a matchup of 2 good teams.  Suzy's jumped out to an early lead but the Realtors got their defense together and their bats got hot scoring 12 runs in the last 3 innings.  Moving John Hammel to second base turned out to be a key as he stopped several hard hit balls. Leading the offense was sub Dale McLaughlin, pitcher Dave Anthony and manager Randy VanWagner each going 4 for 4.  The bottom of the batting order was key to the victory with the bottom 4 batters pounding out 8 hits with Randy Ratcliff going 3 for 3.  Thanks to Dale McLaughlin and Roger Neumann for subbing.  Thursday's game should be exciting with the Homesmart Realtors trying to continue their winning streak.
Susy's:  The Susy’s Home Cleaning squad met the Homesmart Ezell team on a perfect Arizona afternoon for a ballgame. Susy’s fell behind 1-3 in the first inning but came back with two runs in the second to tie the score at 3-3. Neither team scored in the third inning and Susy’s fell behind in the fourth scoring one run against Homesmart’s three runs. Susy’s scored the maximum of five runs in the fifth but allowed Homesmart four runs. In the sixth Susy’s scored two runs while Homesmart scored five. Susy’s was unable to score in the top of the seventh and the final score was 11-15. Congratulations to the Homesmart team for a well played win.
While our defense was not up to our standards and our hitting was a little anemic everyone had at least one hit and contributed to the offense. We had a total of 22 hits in the game. Susy’s played with heart but just didn’t play well enough to win the game.
Thanks to Kevin Katsuki and Jon Chlebeck for subbing for us. It was a pleasure having you both on the team. Thanks to Tom Gruzs, Frank Sandomenico and Rick Armentano for umpiring and Eve Burnett for doing the scoreboard. Thanks to Jeff Smith and Curt Rhoades (IR) for coaching the bases and Cathy Radant for keeping the scorebook.
Kraker Biszantz 13  Dynamic Wealth 10
Kraker Biszantz:   Kraker Biszantz Realty started out slow today, but with our sponsors Shannon and Randy showing up our luck began to change as we scored 5 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings, adding 3 more in the 6th to secure a 13-10 win over a pesky Dynamic Wealth team.  Our offense was led by Jay Corbett 3/4, Allen Bellew 3/4 with a double, Brian Pin 2/3 with a double and a walk, Tim Brown 2/3 with a crucial double, Dave Dompier, Subs Bud Bandfield, Dick Hansen all 2/3 and David Power 2/4 with some excellent base running and Gary Armstrong with a timely double.  Some excellent defense by sub Dan Davidson at 2b along with several other great defensive plays along with another solid pitching performance by Dennis Karcher secured the win.  The injury bug continued its ugly presence, with sub Paul Jinneman having to leave with bloodied knees(sorry Linda) to be replaced on the fly by Dick Hansen who did a great job along with subs Bud Bandfield and Dan Davidson, thank you all for stepping up!
Dynamic:  Dynamic Wealth was up 7 to nothing after 3 and half innings, and then the bottom fell out. Kracker - Biszantz, like the Phoenix rising, came roaring back with back to back 5 spots in the home halves of the 4th and 5th innings, followed by 3 in the bottom of the 6th. All of this, while holding the Dynamic Wealth lineup to single runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings. The final score was 13 - 10 Kracker - Biszantz.
Dynamic Wealth was led offensively by Sean Baker, Andy Campbell and Bob Lessard, all perfect at the plate. Sean, 3 for 3, with a double, 1 Run, and 3 RBI. Andy was 4 for 4, 1 run, 2 RBI. And Bob, was 3 for 3 with a RBI. Both Jon Chlebeck and Jeff Heary went 3 for 4, with Jon scoring 3 times, and Jeff knocking in 2 runs. A big thanks to Roger Neuman from jumping in from the bleachers to help us when Bobby Lessard pulled up with a hitch in his giddy up in the 5th inning.
TP Dentist 11  Backbone 10
TP Dentist:  Our Thomas Pham Dentistry team help tighten up the standings defeating the first place Backbone Chiropractic team 11-10 game that we pulled out in the bottom of the 7th with two outs. Down 10-9 going into the bottom of the 7th, Bud Banfield led off with a double where he stayed until there were two outs. Then the veteran Ray Gibson came through with a game tying single. Patrick Burnett then laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to give us an exciting win. Thanks to our 4 subs Burnett 3-4, 5 RBI; Jay Corbett(super D), Greg Carley with a key RBI single in the 6th, and Dave Maligro with a double and an RBI. Todd Page (2B) and Ron Michalski ( 2 BB, 2 RBI) were both 2-2.Ray Ray had 2 walks along with his game tying hit and he flashed the leather on D. Todd was injured in the 7th with Mitch Craun filling in nicely. Mitch scored the winning run. Dean Schoebert contributed 3-4 and Bub played a strong SS in addition to his key double. Wayne hit the ball had, but only a single to show for it. Last, but certainly not least, Ted made key decisions coaching third.
Backbone:  On a beautiful too sunny day, outfielders on both teams struggled to see the ball leading to big innings.  With the game tied at 7 after 5 innings, BackBone fell behind 9-7 after 6.  BackBone scored 3 times in the top of the 7th to grab a 10-9 lead; but yielded 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to drop a 11-10 decision.  Pitcher Randy Biko 4 for 4 and Frank Sandomenico 2 for 4 with a double each plated 3 runs.  Richard Szymesko added a hit and 2 RBI.  Tom Gruzs 3 for 4 and Tim Schiewe 3 for 3 with a sacrifice fly each added a RBI.  Patrick Hansen was 2 for 3 with 2 double and scored twice.  Special thanks to Randy Van Wagner 2 for 3 for filling in for Chip Stanczak today!

Susy's 17 Dynamic 14
Susy's:  Another perfect afternoon for softball at the Field of Dreams.  The Susy’s Home Cleaning team squared off with a hard hitting Dynamic Wealth Management team and came away with the win. Susy’s batters jumped out to 10 -1 lead after two innings, then continued to score runs in the next three innings to insure the win.  Everyone contributed to the offense with hits and base running.
Susy’s played good defense overall with several players making exceptional outs look routine. Another great team effort.
Congratulations to the Dynamic Wealth team for a great game. Thanks to Rick Armentano and Bud Bandfield for umpiring the game and Dave Anthony for scoreboard duty. Thanks to our subs Jim Opyd and Fred Jensen and special thanks to Dick Hanson for stepping in mid-game to sub when Curt Rhoades was injured. Thanks to Jeff Smith for coaching third and to Cathy Radant for keeping the scorebook.
Dynamic:  It was a tale of two halves. Dynamic Wealth Management was being beaten badly by the house cleaners 12 to 1 after three innings. The money managers scored 11 runs in the last three innings of the time shortened 6 inning game to make the game a  respectable 17 -12 final. The first 2 innings, Susy’s dinked, dumped and donked hit after hit in front of the helpless Dynamics outfielders. After 2, The money managers outfielded played in for the rest of the game. Coulda, woulda, shoulda…. It was too late. Our cold bats the first three innings, coupled with our defensive faux pas in the outfield sealed our fate. We dug a hole, and we couldn't get out.
Dynamic Wealth was led offensively by Don Cole and Sub Paul Jinneman, both perfect at the plate, each  going 3 for 3. Don had 2 RBI, and Paul scored a run and drove in a run. Kevin Katsuki, Jon Chlebeck, Sean Baker and Bob Lessard were all 3 for 4. Kevin knocked in 3, and scored twice. Jon hit a triple, had 2 RBI, and scored once. Sean scored 2 runs, and knocked in 1. And Bob scored twice. Jeff Heary had 2 hits and scored twice. Becky Holliday had a hit and knocked in 3 runs.  A big thank you to Paul Jinneman coming off of the IR and subbing for us today! And thanks much to Kat Melton and Kim MacQueen for tag teaming to keep our scorebook!
Backbone 11 Kraker Biszantz 5
Backbone:   Returning after a long holiday and weather-related layoff, BackBone Chiropractic picked up where they left off.  Tim Schiewe 2 for 4 plated 4 runs.  Frank Sandomenico 2 for 3 added 2 RBI and was the front end of an outstanding double play.  Winniing pitcher Randy Biko with a hit and Sac fly, Tom Gruzs 2 for 3 and a Sac fly, Dennis Vance 3 for 4 with a double, Jim Opyd 3 for 3,and Patrick Hansen 2 for 3 each had a RBI.  Strong defense with 3 double plays was the difference in the contest.  Every player had at least one hit on the day as well.  Special thanks to Ronnie Silberman for filling in for Chip Stanczak Today!
Kraker Biszantz:   Kraker-Biszantz dropped another game today 11-5.  We fell behind in the first and could never catch Backbone in a 6 inning game.  Leading hitters were Glenn Griffin 3-3, Brian Pin and Tim Brown 2-4.  Twelve total hits does not score a lot of runs.  Thanks to subs Allen Bellew, Randy Van Wagner and Kim MacQueen for subbing.
TP Pham 17   Homesmart 11
TP Pham:  In a hotly contested contest, our Timas Pham crew used a big open inning to secure a 17-11 win over Homesmart .
The score was 12-11 in our favor going into the 7th when we erupted with a succession of line drives with the biggest being a home run by Todd Page as he capped off a 4-5, 3 RBI day. Our pitcher Tom Gibans induced 3 ground balls in the bottom half as we ran our record to 3-1-1 on the season. Special thanks to Tim Brrown who served as in in game sub and going 2-3. Wayne Weidenbach went 4-4 while the bottom of the order was also perfect as Fred Jensen and Paul Larson were perfect on the day. Also contributing big were Ray Gibson  Bud Banfield both going 3-4 and Dean Schobert 2-3. Page and Banfield had 3 RBI's and Larson's pinch runner tallied 3 runs. Todd Fletcher had an excellent all around game making a running OF catch and getting two hits and did great as a pinch runner. Big Ron Michalski made a nice catch on a foul popup to cut short a Home smart rally in his first full game of the season. We wish Jim J good health as he had to leave the game early.
Homesmart:  Thomas Pham 17  -  Homesmart 11:   On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon 2 good teams battled it out for 7 innings.  The lead went back and forth until the 7th inning when the Dentists scored 5 runs in the top of the inning.  Homesmart had their chance in the bottom of the inning but couldn't muster any runs losing 17-11.   Both teams hit well with the Realtors pounding out 23 hits.  Leading the offense was the manager Randy VanWagner going a perfect 4 for 4.  Right behind was Patrick Burnett, Mitch Craun and John Gavazza each producing 3 hits with Mitch pounding a triple.  Solid defense was played by all but we just couldn't silence the bats of the Dentists.  Thanks to Kim MacQueen and Laura Fenton for subbing today.

No games are scheduled the week of 11/24 through 11/28 due to Thanksgiving holiday.   White League will resume on 12/2.

Games scheduled on 11/18 and 11/20 were rained out.

Dynamic 14  Kraker Biszantz 5
Dynamic:  Dynamic Wealth Management put big crooked numbers on the board in the first inning with 3, and the third inning with 5, and never looked back. Dynamic Wealth was leading after 4 innings 8 to 1, when Kraker - Biszantz had a 4 run outburst in the top of the 5th inning. This made the score 8 to 5. Tending to business, Dynamic Wealth plated 4 runs of their own in the home half of the 5th, pushing the score to 12 to 5 in favor of the money managers. Dynamic Wealth tacked on 2 insurance runs in the 6th, while holding Kraker - Biszantz scoreless the last two frames. Dynamic Wealth pitcher Becky Holliday was outstanding! Becky held the Kraker - Biszantz lineup scoreless in 5 of 7 frames. Becky pitched to her defense and had the Kraker - Biszantz hitters off balance, beating the ball on the ground to the Dynamic Wealth infield trio of 3rd baseman Sean Backer, Short Stop Andy Campbell, and Rover Mark Beckner. The outfield caught everything catchable hit their way. But today was the day for infield defense! I hate to leave 2nd baseman Don Cole out of the action, but he just wasn’t as busy on the right side as they were on the left!  Although Don made a couple of nice plays himself.
Dynamic Wealth Management had a solid day offensively with 25 hits as a team. Led by Jon Chlebeck and Andy Campbell, both perfect at the plate. Jon went 3 for 3, with 2 runs scored, and 3 runs driven in. Andy was 4 for 4, a run scored, and 2 driven in. Sub Frank Sandomenico, Chuck Frazier, and Kevin Katsuki were all 3 for 4. With Frank hitting 2 doubles, and scoring 4 runs. Chuck hit a double, scored 3 runs, and drove in 2 runs. Kevin scored twice and knocked in 2. With 2 hits each were winning Pitcher Becky Holliday, Bob Lessard and Sean Baker. Bob scored 2 runs, and Sean knocked in 3. Don Cole and Dave Swanson added RBI hits. It was a very well rounded team win. Everyone had a hand in the victory on both sides of the field. A big thank you to Frank Sandomenico for subbing for us today!
Kraker:  Dynamic won this one 14-5. On a beautiful day in Surprise we struggled to get many hits.   The total was 18 and not enough to win the game.   Dave Dompier was 3 for 4 and a double.  David Power was 3 for 4; Jay Corbett was 2 for 3; and Dennis Karcher was 3 for 3.   Good hitting guys.   Subs Jim Courtney was 2 for 4;  Chip Stanczak was 3 for 4; and Greg Carley also had a hit.  Thanks to our subs.   We will be back on Tuesday and have full expectations for our first win.
Backbone 6  PT Pham 5
Backbone: Deja Vu all over again.  For the second time this week, BackBone Chiropractic escaped with a 6-5 decision over our opponent.  BackBone held a 6-2 lead after five innings; but yielded 3 unanswered runs to TPham in the sixth.  Nursing a one run lead in the seventh, TPham  got the first base runner in.  After one out, BackBone Chiropractic turned a game-ending double play. Tom Gruzs with a double, Frank Sandomenico with a double, and Patrick Hansen 2 for 2 each plated two runs.  Randy Biko  2 for 3 with a run scored won the pitchers duel with strong defensive support.
PT Pham:  On a beautiful Thursday morning, our Pham team lost a pitchers duel to Backbone Chiropractic by a 6-5 score. Ironically, in a game highlighted by good defense by both teams, most of the runs were unearned as errors opened the door.
Sub, Dave Anthony pitched well for us while we could muster only 10 hits and 4 walks off of Backbone's Randy Biko.
Todd Fletcher led the meager Pham offense going 2-3 and two RBI while Bud Bancroft and Anthony chipped in with a pair of hits. Ray Ray and last second sub, Ron Silberman were 1-2. Ron was filling in for Ron MIchalski who got hurt in the first inning of his season debut, Talk about a rough start! At least it turned out to be relatively minor.
We have had at least 2 subs each game and that looks to continue next week, unfortunately. Pregame introductions continue.
Susy's 12  Homesmart 11
Susy's:  On a perfect morning for softball the Susy’s Home Cleaning crew showed up ready to meet the always tough Homesmart Ezell team. The first inning saw Homesmart go up 3 to 1.  Good defense by the Cleaning crew held the opposition scoreless for the next two inning while putting up five runs making the score 6 to 3 in favor of the Cleaners after three innings. Homesmart scored 4 runs in the fourth while the Cleaners were blanked. Neither team scored in the fifth. In the sixth inning Homesmart put up two runs and the Cleaning crew plated four making the score 9 - 10 in favor of the Cleaners. Homesmart was able to score two runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead by one. In a pressure situation Jim Courtney reached base followed by Brad Johnson’s hit. Billy Parker got a solid hit to score Jim and move Brad to third. Sub Paul Larson stepped up to the plate and hit a fly ball to shallow left field, Brad tagged up and was able to score on a close play at home giving the Cleaning crew the win.Everyone on the Susy’s Home Cleaning crew reached base on hits. Hits and RBIs were pretty evenly distributed throughout the team and once again defense was excellent. This was truly a team effort with everyone contributing to the win.
Congratulations to the Homesmart Ezell team on a well played game. It was close and competitive all seven innings.
Thanks to the umpires and scoreboard operator. Thanks to the ground crew for the water application prior to our game. Thanks to Jeff Smith for coaching third, Curt Rhoades for coaching first (looking forward to having you back in the game) and Cathy Radant for keeping the scorebook. Special thanks to Paul Larson for playing on our team today.
Homesmart:  Another beautiful day at the ball park turned out to be a slug fest by two good teams.  With a game that saw both teams trade leads, its was the Home Cleaners that managed to score 2 runs is the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 12-11 victory over the scrapy Homesmart boys.  The Homesmart team manages to pound out 26 hits but wound up leaving to many runners stranded on base.  Everyone in the lineup contributed with at least one hit.  Leading the offense was Patrick Burnett and Randy VanWagner both slamming 4 hits. John Gavazza continued his great play by producing 3 hits.  Randy Torr broke out of his hitting slump with 2 hits including a double.  Randy Ratcliff, John Recob, Dave Anthony and Mitch Craun each had 2 hits   Defensively right fielder John Recob had a couple of nice plays stopping rallys by the Cleaners.  In the end both teams played well enough to win but Homesmart came up a little short. .

Dynamic 8   Homesmart 6
Dynamic:  Dynamic Wealth Management squeaked one out, beating a very good Homesmart - Paulette Ezell squad 8 - 7. It was a pitching and defense kind of game. Dynamic Wealth jumped out and had a 4 to 1 lead at the end of 4. It expanded to a 6 to 3 lead at the end of 5. Luckily we tacked on 2 additional runs in the 6th inning, because Homesmart exploded for 3 runs in the seventh. With a grounder to short stop Andy Campbell, throwing over to First baseman Chuck Frazier to record the final out to a thrilling game. We had everyone contributing defensively. We had a 3rd to home double play in the 6th, with sub Chip Stanczak snaring a grounder, tagging 3rd for 1 out, and throwing to Bob Lessard for the 2nd out at the plate.
Dynamic Wealth Management was just good enough offensively to win. Led by  Kevin Katsuki  and Chip Stanczak, both perfect at the plate. With Kevin going 3 for 3, with a run, and Chip going 3 for 3, with 3 knocked in. Mark Beckner, Don Cole, Jon Chlebeck and Chuck Frazier were all 2 for 3. With Mark scoring a run, and knocking in one. Don scored a run. Jon scored a run, had an RBI, with a double. Chuck scored 2 runs and had 1 RBI. Bob Lessard had a double and an RBI. Tim Schiewe knocked in a run. Gary Armstrong did a great job pitching for us, subbing for Becky Holliday, who has been solid as a rock on the mound. Special things happen when you can win games like these! Thanks to Chip Stanczak, Tim Schiewe and Gary Armstrong for subbing. Thanks to Eileen Figueroa for keeping the scorebook! Thanks to Jon Chlebeck for taking over manager duties while I tended to some family stuff!
Homesmart:  It was a beautiful in Surprise to play softball.   Weather was perfect. Unfortunately the score didn't cooperate.  After trailing for most of the game Homesmart produced a gallant comeback in the 7th inning.  We came close but wound up 2 runs short.  Defensively we had our ups and downs but our bats finally came alive.  In our loss we pounded out 18 hits.  Hitting stars were Captain Randy VanWagner and sub Glenn Griffin, both going 3 for 4.  John Gavazza, Mitch Craun, John Recob, Randy Ratcliff and Patrick Burnett all collected 2 hits a piece.  Dynamic played a solid game and we give them credit for a nice win.  We're looking forward to Thursday to get back on the winning track.  Thanks Glenn Griffith and Kim McQueen for subbing today.
Backbone 6  Susy's 5
Backbone:  With our sponsor David Backus in attendance, BackBone Chiropractic escaped with a 6-5 decision over Susys.  BackBone held a 6-2 lead after five innings; but yielded 3 unanswered runs in the sixth.  Nursing a one run lead in the seventh, Susys got the first base runner in.  But for two outstanding defensive plays by Frank Sandomenico and Dennis Vance the outcome of the game might have been different.  Vance 3 for 3 with 2 doubles scored 3 times and plated 2 runs.  Tim Schiewe 2 for 3 also plated 2 runs, including the game winner.  Richard Szymesko and sub Greg Carley each had a hit and RBI.  Tom Gruzs with a double and 2 runs scored, Chip Stanczak, and Ken Krzeminski went 2 for 3 on the day.  Randy Biko won the pitchers duel with strong defensive support.
Susy's:  The Susy's Home Cleaning team met the formidable Backbone Chiropractic team on a sunny Veterans Day afternoon. Susy’s came up short in final tally, losing 5 - 6.  The game proved to be a great defensive battle with Susy’s showing a very solid defense.
However, Susy’s could not get the bats warmed up and mustered only 15 hits for the game due in part to a good Backbone defense. Congratulations to Backbone Chiropractic on the win today.
Thanks to the umpires and scoreboard operator today. You are always appreciated. Thanks to Sean Baker for subbing for us today, thanks to Jeff Smith for helping with the team and coaching third base and to Cathy Radant for keeping the scorebook.
TP Pham 14  Kraker Biszantz 14
TP Pham:   The game ended in a 6 inning tie, but the Kraker Realty walked off the field with smiles on their faces, while the Thomas Pham Dentistry boys were disappointed that their 12-4 lead a couple innings previous did not hold up against the suddenly hot Kraker bats.
Our Pham squad bats were hot the first four innings as we jumped t0 a 12-4 lead after four innings of play.
But then our bats cooled and Kraker came alive with a pair of 5 run innings to charge from behind to tie the game. Good job by the Holliday gang by never giving up.
Our defense was strong early with a nice catch on the warning track by Dean Schoberl, Fred snaring a couple hard grounders, and Page with a sliding catch. Todd Fletcher again player a good game in the OF. Hats off to our subs as Randy  VW played a strong IF in a 4-4, 5 RBI game while Dave Anthony went 4-4. We had some strong performances from our regulars with Todd Page 3-3 plus a walk, Dean and Bud each 3-4, and Dave Maligro 2-3.
We welcome Ron Michalski to the team as he will be joining us Thursday.
Kraker Biszantz:  Crazy game today!!  Kraker Biszantz started off real slow.  In the 4th inning we were behind 12-4.  In the 5th something happened and we made 5 runs.  Going into the 6th, we were down 12 to 9.  In the 6th, TP Pham made 2 runs but we made 6 to tie the game 14 to 14.  We only played 6 innings and had 19 hits.   Our team made a great comeback.  In his first game this season, Jay Corbett made some outstanding catches in left field.   Sub Mark Beckner was 4 for 4 and a double.   David Power was 2 for 3 and a walk.  Sub John Chlebeck was 2 for 4 and a double.   Sub Greg Carley was 3 for 4.  Brian Martin was 3 for 3 and 2 rbi’s.   Thanks to our subs for playing great.

Dynamic 23  Susy's 14
Dynamic:  It was another stunning day at the Field of Dreams! Dynamic Wealth squared off against a very good Susy’s Home Cleaning squad. We were looking to grab our first win of the season. Dynamic was down early, trailing Susy’s 5 - 2 after two innings. Our bats came alive in the 3rd inning, plating 5 runs in the top of the inning, while holding Susy’s to 1 run in the home half of the inning, making the score 7 - 6 Dynamic wealth after 3 innings. The hit parade continued in the 4th inning, with Dynamic Wealth scoring 4, while keeping Susy’s to 2 runs scored. Dynamic Wealth increased our lead to 11 - 8 after 4 innings played. Dynamic Wealth added a single run in the top of the 5th inning and held Susy’s scoreless in the 5th inning bringing the score to 12 - 8 in favor of the money managers. The 6th inning made the game interesting. Dynamic Wealth tacked on a single run in the top of the inning, and Susy’s then exploded for 5 runs to tie up the game at 13 apiece. It was gut check time for the money managers heading into the open inning 7th. And we hit. And we hit more. And still, more hitting took place. 14 hitters to the plate, 10 runs scored to take a 23 - 13 lead to force a flip flop. Susy’s plated a run in the home half of the 7th. Final score Dynamic Wealth Management 23, Susy’s Home Cleaning 14. We played better defensively with several above average catches and plays being made. A very good total team win!
When you bang out 37 hits as a team, offensively you have a lot of leaders getting ink! Dynamic Wealth Management was led by Don Cole and Dave Swanson, both perfect at the plate. With Don going 4 for 4, 2 runs, 3 RBI, and Dave going 5 for 5, a run scored, and 3 knocked in. Jeff Heary, Bob Lessard, Mark Beckner, and Kevin Katsuki were all 4 for 5. Jeff scored 3 runs, and drove in 4. Bob scored once, and had 2 RBI. Mark scored 3 runs, and had an RBI. Kevin scored 2 and knocked in 2.  Jon Chlebeck and Chuck Frazier each had 3 hits, with Jon scoring a run, while knocking in 2. Chuck scored 3 times and had 2 RBI. Becky Holliday, Andy Campbell, and Sean Baker each had 2 hits. Becky scored twice and had an RBI. Andy scored 2 runs, with 2 RBI. And Sean scored 3 runs, with 1 knocked in. I was the lineup I envisioned on draft day. Nice work team!
Susy's:  On a day of lopsided victories/losses the Susy’s Home Cleaning team could not break the pattern. In a hard fought and evenly matched game through six innings the teams were tied at 13 runs each. However, the Dynamic Wealth team exploded for ten runs in the top of the seventh causing a flip-flop situation. The “Cleaners” were able to score only one run and the game concluded.
Susy’s had 25 hits with Ronnie Silberman, Brad Johnson, Jim Courtney, Bill Parker, Ted Grove and Steve Willoughby each getting three hits. Ronnie Silberman led the team with five RBIs. The remaining RBIs were pretty evenly distributed among the team.  Defensively we played solid but had some missed opportunities for outs.
Congratulations to Manager Dave Swanson and his team for a well played game. Thanks to Tom Gruzs and Randy Biko for umpiring and Dennis Vance for scoreboard. Thanks to Jeff Smith for coaching 3rd base and keeping the scorebook.
Backbone 15  Kraker Biszantz 2
Backbone:  ackBone Chiropractic bested Kraker Biszantz by a run-shortened 15-2 margin.  Tom Gruzs 4 for 4 with a double and 4 RBI led the way.  Also perfect from the plate were: Tim Schiewe 4 for 4 with a RBI; Chip Stanczak 3 for 3 with a RBI; and Greg Martin 3 for 3 with a RBI.  Richard Szymesko 2 for 3 with a double and Sac fly and Jim Opyd with a hit and Sac fly each added 2 RBI.  Dennis Vance with 2 hits including a double, winning pitcher Randy Biko 3 for 4 with a double, and Ken Krzeminski with a hit and Sac fly each plated a run.  Frank Sandomenico excelled in the field and reached base 3 times in 4 plate appearances.  Rookie Patrick Hansen picked up his 1st hit of the young season and contributed as a base runner scoring once for himself and twice for others.
Kraker Biszantz:  Well, what can we say, it was a very long morning at the ballpark for Kraker Biszantz Realty.  Hat’s off to a very good Backbone Chiropractic who mercied us in 5 innings.  We only garnered 5 hits and 2 runs for the entire game, with our Manager/3rd base coach Mike Wunsch being lonely at third base.  The good news, it was a beautiful morning and no one got hurt!  Welcome to Bob Tarr as our additional coach after having to go on Injured Reserve for knee repairs.  Thanks to Ronnie Silberman and Kim MacQueen for subbing, John Gavazza and Becky Holliday for umpiring, and John Bertholdy in the tower.
TP Pham 12  Homesmart 0
TP Pham:  When you have super pitching, strong defense along with lots of line drives on offense, that's a recipe for a win and Tom Gibans pitched a great game in a rare slowpitch shutout as his curve was working to perfection in the 12-0 five inning win. His teammates give him great support with the gloves highlighted by a shoestring catch by Dean Schoberl and good play by Ray Ray on a flare and sub Rick Armentano was solid up the middle and Todd Fletcher flagged down a shot to RF.
The offense certainly did its part as we scored in every inning and all players contributed a hit.
We scored with lots of clutch. two out hits with several guys perfect on the day including Todd Page, Bud Banfield, Fred Jensen, Wayne W, and Paul Larson. Thanks to Koch and Koch for their important contributions. We head into week 2 at 2-0.
Homesmart:    Well today wasn't our day.  Going from a 28 hit attack on Tuesday we only managed 6 hits and 0 runs today.  We had several batters hit the ball hard but unfortunately it was right at one of the defenders.  Early on our defense struggled but played much better as the game continued.  Best defensive play was turn in by John Hammel stopping a line shot at first base that ended the inning with minimal damage.  Best part of the game is that there is always next week.  Congratulation to the Thomas Pham team.

Backbone 12  Dynamic 9
Backbone Chiro:  BackBone Chiropractic opened the Fall Season by besting Dynamic Wealth 12-9 in a highly entertaining game.  After struggling with the sun in the early innings, the outfield made several run-saving catches to keep BackBone in the lead.  Three notable defensive gems were Greg Martin with a catch of a deep flyball while shielding his eyes from the sun, Frank Sandomenico with a diving catch and Patrick Hansen with an over the shoulder catch while moving away from his 2nd base position into short right field.  Offensively, the team was led by Tim Schiewe 4 for 4 with 2 RBI;  Dennis Vance with 3 hits including 2 doubles, 3 runs scored,  and a RBI; rookie Richard Szymesko with 3 hits including 2 doubles and a RBI; Chip Stanczak 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI; Ken Krzeminski with a hit and 2 RBI; and Jim Opyd 3 for 3 with 2 RBI.  Pitcher Randy Biko helped his own cause by going 2 for 4 with a double and RBI; and shutting down Dynamic Wealth at the plate in the final inning.  The team also welcomed back Tom Gruzs after a long layoff from last season and back surgery.  Tom contributed a hit, a run and infield leadership.
Dynamic:  It was a beautiful opening day at the Field of Dreams! Dynamic Wealth tried to notch a win against a very good Backbone Chiropractic squad, but it was not to be. The score was 7 to 5 heading into the third inning. Backbone added a run in their half of the 3rd, taking an 8 - 5 lead. Dynamic Wealth battled back with 2 of their own runs in the top of the 4th, and then held Backbone scoreless in the bottom of the inning, making it a 8 - 7 game going into the 5th inning. Backbone plated 2 additional runs in the 5th, with 2 more in the 6th, while Dynamic Wealth was held scoreless in the 5th, and scored 2 in the 6th, making the score 12 - 9 Backbone. That was it. Dynamic Wealth was held scoreless in the 7th. Backbone Chiropractic won the Fall opener over Dynamic Wealth Management in a hard fought 12 to 9 contest. We played pretty well defensively with several above average catches being made.
Offensively, Dynamic Wealth Management was led by Jeff Heary and Bob Lessard, both perfect at the plate. With Jeff going 4 for 4, with a double, 1 run scored, and 3 driven in. Bob was 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Andy Campbell was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Sean Baker was 2 for 3 with a walk, and Kevin Katsuki was 2 for 4. Jon Chlebeck had a 2 run double, and Mark Beckner had a double, 2 runs scored and a run driven in. We had 4 walks as a team, showing patience at the plate. Better days are ahead!
TP Dentist 16  Susy's Home Cleaning 14
TP Dentist:  Thomas Pham Dentistry rode a couple of early 5 run innings to a hard fought 16-14 win. The defense played very well in typical late afternoon sunny conditions. The dentists seemed to handle the soft infield conditions a little better. Thomas Pham was led by Bud Banfield and Tom Gibans both 4 for 4. Todd Fletcher and Fred Jensen each knocked in 3 runs. Todd Page, Fred Jensen and Paul Larson each had 3 hits. Everybody scored at least one run. Bud Banfield handled SS exceptionally well and Dean Schoeberl made a handful of difficult catches In RCF.  The overall defense was good in containing a potential high scoring offense.
Susy's:  The Susy’s Home Cleaning team took on a very good Thomas Pham Dentistry team on a sunny Arizona afternoon. Unfortunately we fell short of our goal, but played well overall.  Our outfielders had some difficulty with the sun but still made some very good plays. Our infielders had to contend with a soft infield which prevented the ball from bouncing normally at times. Hats off to our opponents as they hit a lot of balls where we weren’t.
On the offensive side, as a team we hit pretty well with twenty two hits but obviously needed more to win. Sub Greg Carley was our standout offensive player today as he hit for the cycle and had four RBIs. His home run was a little questionable for style but counted just the same. Big thanks for playing for us today Greg.
Congratulations Thomas Pham Dentistry on a well played game.
Thanks to Rick Armentano, Dick Hanson and Jay Corbett for umpiring and Tim Brown for the scoreboard. Thanks Jeff Smith for helping with the team and coaching third base. Thank you Cathy for keeping the scorebook.
Homesmart 13   Kraker Biszantz Realty 12
Homesmart:  Wow, what a game.  After struggling in the first few innings and being down 9-2,  the Homesmart boys put together a solid game pulling out a 13-12 victory in the bottom of the seventh inning over a very good Kraker team.  Every player contributed at least one hit in the 28 hit attack.  Mitch Craun and super sub Glen Griffin led the way each going 4 for 4.  Close behind was John Gavazza Dave Anthony and John Bertholdy each with 3 hits.  The star of the game however had to go to Patrick Burnett.  With 2 out in the bottom of the seventh inning and trailing by 3 runs, Patrick smashed a line drive to left center getting by the fielder and driving in the 3 winning runs.  This was a game that was decided by a team that would not give up.  Way to go Homesmart.
Kraker Biszantz:  The first game of the season for Kraker Biszantz Realty was a barn burner.  We led the whole game, only to come up short in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The final score was 13-12.  Even though it was a loss we played a great game, and knocked off some of the off season rust.  Leading hitters were Dave Dompier 4/4 , Brian Pin 3/3 with a walk, Dennis Karcher 3/3, Sub Greg Dustball Martin was 3/4,  Tim Brown 2/4  and Rick Armentano 2/4 with a big hit in the 6th to score 3 runs.  Defensively the sun was not anyone’s friend today.  Thanks to Don Cole and Bob Lessard umpires and Becky Holliday in the tower.  Great to be back playing softball!, we will be ready for Thursday.
