Dynamic Wealth - 14 Ranall's Realty - 13

The 0-2 Dynamic Wealth team scored a comeback 14-13 win over the previous 2-0 Ranalls Realty team. Carrying a 12-11 lead into the 7th inning, Dynamic Wealth gave up only two runs. With the #2 & #3 hitters coming up, Dynamic Wealth should have been in the driver’s seat, but two hard hit balls were caught for outs. “Two outs – so what!” Curtis Rhoades stroked a single, as did Ed Campbell. Intent on driving in the winning run, Don Trenda stroked a hit to the outfield, scoring Curt, but wait – here comes “Fast Eddie” leaving a trail of dust all the way from first base to score the winning run. Leading hitters for the day were Curt Rhoades 4-4 (1 3B) and Pete Simoneau 3-4 with a 3B and HR. Paul Jinneman and Ed Campbell (1 3B) had 3 hits each, and Sean Baker (1 BB) and Don Trenda added 2 hits apiece. Wayne Moxley, Barry Schwarts, Jake Groh, and Mike Mcginn each contributed a hit, and Norm Lustig drove in an important run with a 6th inning walk. Sean made a rolling catch in the outfield, and Barry and Wayne made key defensive plays. Thank you to Pete, Sean, and Barry for subbing for us today.

Ranalls Realty ran into a steam rolling team today, they had the bats going and seemingly players in the right spot.. It was a back and forth kind of day with Dynamics leading the whole game until the flip-flop where we managed to tie then go ahead. But their bats came alive and held out for a one point victory. 19 hits out of 39 appearances, mostly singles and limited extended base opportunities. Ken Kessler was 4/4 with several RBI’s as was Glenn Turner also knocking in 4 RBI’s..A few errors and mis-judged balls got us on the loosing side. Greg Church pitched thru some tough game situations and kept us in it the whole way. Special thanks to Joan for keeping our books and to Danny and Dave for a good officiating today..

Tride/True Pest Mgmt - 16 Van Peursem Realty - 6

On a beautiful Spring day at the softball park at the Del Webb Field of Dreams, Tride and True defeated Heather Van Peursem 16-6.  After the score was tied at 4 after the first inning, it was all T&T from there on as we scored 12 more runs to the HVP 2.  Defensively, it was our best game as we held them scoreless in 4 innings even turning a TRIPLE PLAY (5-11-3) in the 2nd inning.  All of the OF played extremely well as Sub Chris Espejo and stalwart Jon Chlebeck made great catches.  Sheldon Rosenthal was a monster in the Rover position, turning double and triple plays as well as snagging grounders and line drives.  Even the pitcher snagged a comebacker and got an out on a runner between 2nd and 3rd.  Bud Bandfield at 3rd and Ted Grove at SS made nice plays to Don Cole at 1st base.  Offensively, Jon Chlebeck (LCF) drove in 6 runs with 3 doubles and a single going 4/4.  He was followed closely by Bud 4/4 with 4 RBI and P Danny Wood 4/4 with 3 runs and an RBI.  With 3 hits each were Shelly, Don ( a double and 2 RBI) and sub Chris Espejo.  Following with 2 hits were RF Norma Lucas (welcome back), Ted (run & RBI), super battery-mate Jack Braly and RCF Scott Boyd.  Everyone had a hit including 2nd baseman Lonnie Saiz as we swatted 30 hits in 39 AB's for a .769 Avg./OBP.  Many thanks to Don Trenda and Jeff Smith for umpiring and Mark Jessen in the Tower.  Thank you Betty Saiz for keeping our scorebook, perfectly as always.

"It was a beautiful day for a softball game, just not for Heather Van Peursem. Tride and True played an excellent game of defense and offense defeating us 16-6. We did have a few very good defensive plays, Laura Johnson (Nana) made several excellent catches and on one play gloved a base hit up the middle and threw to second to get the force out. She also had 2 hits and a RBI followed by cheers from the stands from her two adorable grandsons. Our offense was led by lead-off hitter Ron Silberman who was 3 for 3, single, double and home run missing the cycle by a triple. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity to get the fourth at bat. He also had 2 runs scored and a RBI. Karen Olsen and Skip Pavitt had 2 hits each, Karen run scored and RBI, Skip RBI. Tom Yurkunas had a hit but it was a big one, a Home Run, run scored and 2 RBI. Patrick Burnett had 2 hits, double, run scored and RBI. Marty Jimenez and Ray Hensley each added a hit, Marty also had a walk, Ray run scored and RBI. "

Liberty Buick came through with 2 runs as Mike Kachurak got on base, Ken Krzeminski drove him in and then Randy Van Wagner drove in the winning run to end the game. Liberty Buick's outfield had a busy day as Mike Kachurak in Left Field caught 6 fly balls. Randy Van Wagner and Kathy Boland also caught fly balls. Carrousel Travel - 17 General Exterminating - 8

The Carrousel bats came out of the deep freeze for the first game of a double header against GenEx. The Carrousel team plated a very nice 17 runs. Pitching and defense are the trademark of this team and GenEx was limited to 8 runs in the contest. Every Carrousel player had at least one hit today. Carrousel hit for .583 in total. Top hitters were John Blevins .1000, Tom Ranalls and Brad Brulotte were .800 on the day. Tom Gibans was a nice .750. Eric Shousse and Jay Schirpke were .600 today. Thanks to Jay Schirpke and Brad Brulotte for subbing.
On a gorgeous Arizona morning, the GenX 10 had a hard time getting started. We had one inning where we sco

red 5 runs and that was the best we could do in our first game vs the Carrousel Travel squad. Too many fly-outs and inconsistent hitting just doesn't turn into a win. Top hitters at 3 for 4 were: Greg Allseitz, Pete Slys, David Zucker and Kenny Shick. Everyone else had one or two hits. Thanks to our umpires, Don Ranieri and Gary Finer, and Mark Jessen up in on the score tower controls. And to Ken Silva for subbing.

Carrousel Travel - 12 General Exterminating - 10

The Carrousel defense rose to the occasion during the second game of a double header against GenEx. GenEx was held to 10 runs while the Carrousel bats produced 12 runs. It was just enough to secure the win and a double dip today. So we are giving gold gloves again for solid pitching and solid defense. Congratulations to the entire team for holding steadfast in the field: Tom Ranalls, Tom Gibans, Dan Newman, Brad Brulotte, Glen Soles, Les Zirbel, John Blevins, Eric Shousse, Jay Schirpke, and Jim Opyd. Thanks to Jay Schirpke and Brad Brulotte for subbing.

Well, the 2nd game of the day was turning out to be a better showing for the GenX 10, after 3 innings we were down 6 to 7. We scored 4 in the bottom of 4 to go ahead 10 to 7, and that was all the runs we could produce. Congrats to the Carrousel Travel team on the two wins. Our defensive highlight was a Lowe (RF) to Silva (2B) to Weidenbach (C) double play within the home plate commitment zone. Perfect at the plate were: David Zucker and Ken Silva (sub) at 4 for 4. Pete Slys, Jeff Nickerson (3 run HR) and Mike Hirsch were all 3 for 4. Ted Schneider and Kenny Shick contributed 2 hits and Bruce Lowe and Wayne Weidenbach each had one. Thanks again to Ken Silva for subbing, Dave Elkins and Lloyd Newlands for umpiring, and Mark Jessen for manning the score board.

Wheeler-Riley Realty - 12 Homesmart Realty - 10

Char Wheeler came out on top with a final score of 12 to 10 beating HomeSmart. HomeSmart put up a valiant effort. Char Wheeler jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after two innings. But HomeSmart showed their resilience, battling back to tie the game 6-6 in the third inning. From there, Char Wheeler dug deep and managed to regain the lead and hold onto it for the win. It sounds like Al Caillouette provided some fireworks with a home run. Howard Sumner and sub Joe Briener were consistent offensive threats, each racking up three hits. And Jay Shirpky had an outstanding day at the plate with four hits! It sounds like the defense for Char Wheeler was key to their victory, making some crucial plays at just the right moments to limit HomeSmart to that one big five-run inning. That kind of timely defense can really change the momentum of a game. Great win today Char Wheeler. Thank you to Kat Melton for keeping the book.

The Homesmart team fell behind d 5-0 after the first inning and never recovered as they dropped a tough 12-10 decision to Chars All Stars. All of Homesmarts players, except one, contributed with multi hit efforts. This list included Frank Sandomenico, John Nicodemo, Don Ranieri, sub Ralph Hollis, Ken Silva, JP Guzik, Dave Elkins, Dave Fusaro and Gary “ZZ” Finer. The defense did their part to keep the game within reach. Chars team was held to only 6 runs over the last four innings however the realtors, after evening the score after three, only managed 4 runs over the remainder of the contest. The HomeSmart team will try and work out the bugs on Thursday as they prepare to take on the General Exterminating team. Game time 8am. Thanks to Mark Jensen for managing the scoreboard and thanks to Dan Newman and Bill Tierney for handling the umpiring g duties. Finally, our heartfelt condolences to Craig Nelson and his entire family!

Ranalls Realty played a tough Liberty team today. Defense left them scoreless in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, & 6th innings, Liberty had a nice rally in the top of the 7th to closed the gap but our outfield made some nice catches and keep us on top. WyYerd Fiber - 9 Tried/True Pest Mgmt - 11

For our first game we took on a strong team. We held them 6 to 2 for 3 1/2 innings. Then we went dry and they took off running with a final score of 11-9. Everyone played great with some nice plays. Leading the offensive was Larry Radant & Charlie Counts 3/3. Barry Schwartz 2/3, Steve Willoughby 1/4. Annie Lowe, Kirk King, Darren Proctor, Ron Rogerson, & Mike Ryan all 1/3. Thanks to our subs Barry Schwartz, Darren Proctor, Yvonne Becker & Mike Ryan for subbing. We will come back strong next time.

Tride and True came from a 6-2 deficit after the top of the 4th, to score the maximum 4 runs in the 4th and 5th innings to take an 11-8 victory over WyYerd. In our first game of the Spring weekday session. We played some great defense led by Bud Bandfield at 3rd base who caught several line drives, had a great throw to first, a great throw home to Jack Braly and a put out on a runner to 3rd base with an assist to Don Cole who made a great throw from 1st base. LF Gerry Boesche made a nice running catch and 2nd baseman Lonnie Saiz caught a line drive, then a grounder and threw to first to end the game. However, offensively is where T&T was really on fire, led by LCF Jon Chlebeck 3/3 who had two inside the park home runs and one more RBI with a double. The wonderful Betty Saiz kept the scorebook for T&T and did a great job. Thanks to all of our players for starting the season out with a WIN.

Copper Division

Wheeler-Riley Realty - 19 Carrousel Travel - 8

What a decisive victory for Char Wheeler in their first game of the Copper session! They powered their way to a commanding 19-8 win over Carrousel in what can only be described as a high-scoring affair. From the first pitch, Char Wheeler seemed to have Carrousel on their heels, consistently putting runners on base and driving them in with authority. The offensive firepower of Char Wheeler was truly something to behold. They showcased a potent combination of timely hitting, smart base running, and perhaps even a few well-placed extra-base hits that kept the scoreboard ticking in their favor. Every inning seemed to bring more runs for Char Wheeler, putting increasing pressure on the Carrousel pitching and defense. While Carrousel managed to put eight runs on the board themselves, it simply wasn't enough to keep pace with the offensive onslaught from Char Wheeler. They likely had moments of strong hitting and capitalized on opportunities, but the sheer volume of runs from their opponents proved to be too much to overcome. This game undoubtedly highlighted the offensive capabilities of Char Wheeler. They demonstrated an ability to consistently generate runs and maintain pressure throughout the contest. For Carrousel, this game will likely serve as a reminder of the importance of strong pitching and tight defense when facing a hot-hitting team. Ultimately, the final score of 19-8 tells the story of a dominant performance by Char Wheeler. Congratulations to them on a well-earned victory!

The Carrousel bats took a hiatus today and could only muster a .459 on base average and 8 runs. Congratulations Char Wheeler to a well played game. Thank you to Ken Silva for stepping up to sub for us today. Thank you Mark Jessen for manning the score tower and Dave Zuker and Wayne Weidenbach for umpiring. Also a HUGE THANKS to all the players who displayed their purple support in their garb and painted purple finger nails in support of Linda and Craig Nelson!

General Exterminating - 24 Homesmart Realty - 14

Well a new season started at the "Field of Dreams" today and what a pair of games General Exterminators and Homesmart had. Both teams through the 5th inning either scored 0 or 5 each inning for a 15 to 10 lead for Gen'l Exterminators at that point. Homesmart scored 4 in the 6th with Genex's 1 to bring the score closer. But the bats came back to life in the unlimited 7th inning where Genex scored 8 in the top half and they didn't score any in their half. A real hitters dual! The Genex 10 batted .729 for this game, 35 hits on 48 at-bats and scored 24 runs. Leading hitters were Greg Allseitz (5/5, 3 runs) and Kenny Shick (4/4, 4 runs). Others gathering 4 hits were Mike Hirsch (4/5, 3 runs), David Zucker (4/5, 3 runs) and Wayne Weidenbach (4/5, 2 runs). Everyone else had 3 hits for a well contributed game. Also to show support for the Nelson's and their fight, thumbs were painted purple and pictures taken. We are all here to support them!

HomeSmart started out the spring session on a bit of a tough note! The defense was pretty solid until the open frame but the offense didn’t follow suit, tallying 14 runs over 7 innings while giving up 24 - 8 in the final frame. Jeff, Frank, and John N led team with three hits each and everyone had at least 1 hit. Thanks to Lisa, Ken, and Jeff S for subbing. Thanks to our umps John and Brian, along with Mark in the tower.

General Exterminating - 19 Homesmart Realty - 19

For the double-header, again the hitting continued for both teams ending in a 6 inning shortened tie game at 19 to 19.  The General Exterminator 10 hit .780 this game with 32 hits on 41 at-bats.  The team had 7 doubles and 1 triple this game to push runners around the base pads.  Two hitters were perfect at the plate: Wayne Weindenbach (4/4, 4 runs) and Kenny Shick (4/4, 2-2B, 1 run).  Other hitters with 4 hits were: Greg Allseitz (4/5, 2 runs) and Pete Sluys (4/5, 1 run).  Getting three hits were: Jeff Nickerson (3/4, 1 run), JD Dillree (3/4, 2 runs), Ted Schneider (3/4, 3 runs) and Bruce Lowe (3/4, 3 runs).  David Zucker was 2/4, Mike Hirsch 2/3 to finish out the Genex 10.  And finally a big Thank you to our umpires and scoreboard operator today.

Game two of the Spring was against the same GenEx team that beat us pretty good in game one.  This outcome was more of a battle and ended in a tie with both teams scoring 4 runs in the time shortened sixth inning.  Don R and Dave Fusaro led the offense going 5-5 and Don contributing a grand slam……reaching back to show off the power that legend says was common place!! In addition, Ken S, JP, and Frank contributed 3 hits with everyone contributing at least one knock.  Thanks again to Lisa, Ken, and Jeff along with Les for subbing.  Thanks for Chip and Dan N for umping and Mark in the tower!
